Can I purchase access to an on-demand or livestream seminar that has already ended?
No. We are unable to provide access to a seminar outside of its scheduled dates.
What is the difference between an “on-demand” and a “livestream” seminar?
A “livestream” seminar is held over 3-4 days via Zoom. Participants can join all lectures live. In addition, the instructor hosts lab sessions to go over exercise solutions and to allow participants to ask questions. If you are unable to attend live, you can join any or all sessions asynchronously by viewing the recorded sessions later in the day. Videos of each session will be made available to participants for four weeks following the course.
An “on-demand” seminar is self-paced and you can learn at your own convenience. The seminars typically run for 4 weeks and include pre-recorded videos, exercises, quizzes, readings, and a dedicated discussion forum to ask the instructor questions. Each generally requires about 6-10 hours/week of work.
I’ve never used Zoom before. What do I need to know?
Zoom is a free and very user-friendly meeting software. Instructions for joining a Zoom session are available here. You will receive a meeting link from Statistical Horizons a couple days before the course; all you need to do is click to join at the appropriate time. You’ll then enter a virtual waiting room where you will be admitted to the course. If you do not already have Zoom downloaded on your laptop or computer, you will be prompted to do so prior to joining the seminar. It only takes a few minutes to download. We suggest downloading Zoom prior to the beginning of the course.
I’ve registered; when will I receive more information about the seminar?
Roughly one week before the seminar begins, you will receive an email with any necessary course materials and instructions on joining via Zoom. Please add the @statisticalhorizons.com domain to your safe senders list to make sure you receive all emails. If you don’t receive any emails within a few days of the seminar, please check your spam folder. If nothing has been received, contact us at email@example.com or give us a call at 1-610-715-0115.
I can’t attend one (or more) of the lectures live. When will I be able to access a video recording?
We will send videos of each session within 24 hours.
How long will the recordings of each session be available?
You can watch the videos of the session for 4 weeks following the course 24/7. We are not able to grant any extensions beyond this.
Are the hands-on lab sessions also recorded?
Yes! The links for these sessions will also be sent out within 24 hours.
Is a Certificate of Completion available?
Yes, you may request a Certificate of Completion by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Where can I find the schedule for the live sessions?
The schedule for each seminar is found directly on the individual course page. The livestream seminars are typically 3 or 4 days and each include two 1-hr lab sessions. All of our seminars are held in U.S. Eastern time. Note that all sessions are recorded so you do not need to “attend” live.
3-day seminars typically take place Thursday-Saturday and follow this schedule:
- 10:00am-2:00pm ET: Live lecture via Zoom
- 4:00pm-5:00pm ET: Live “lab session” via Zoom (Thursday and Friday)
4-day seminars typically take place Tuesday-Friday and follow this schedule:
- 10:300am-12:30pm ET: Live lecture via Zoom
- 1:30pm-3:00pm ET: Live session via Zoom
Always confirm the schedule on the actual seminar page. Occasionally there will be a slight change in regards to times or days.
Are on-demand seminars available anytime?

Do I have to be online at specific times?
No! The courses, including all videos, are available 24 hours a day during the duration of the seminar.
Are the courses self-paced?
Yes, the courses are self-paced. However, you will receive an email each week with suggested activities to complete to stay on track.
What time does the seminar begin on the first day?
The course contents will be available at midnight Eastern time on the day the seminar is scheduled to begin.
How long will the course materials be available to me after the end date?
You will be able to access all course materials for two weeks following the end of the seminar. After two weeks, video access will end and can’t be extended. No exceptions. However, participants are able to download a PDF copy of all slides and data sets which can be reviewed at any time.
I’ve registered; how will I access the course? When will I receive more information?
On the day the course begins, login to your DigitalChalk account (which you created when registering) to begin the seminar. An email with instructions and the assignments for the first week will be sent to all participants the day before the seminar begins. If you don’t receive details by the first day, check your spam folder.
