Frequently Asked
What is your cancellation policy?
Do you offer student, Ph.D., or developing-country discounts? Are scholarships available?
No, we do not offer special rates for students or participants from developing countries. We do offer group discounts; inquire here. Scholarships are not available.
What is the difference between an “on-demand” and a “livestream” seminar?
A livestream seminar is taught live on Zoom typically over 2-4 days. You can attend the sessions in real time, but if you can’t make a session, you can watch the recording instead. Recording links are made available within 24 hours and remain available for four weeks after the seminar ends.
An on-demand seminar is self-paced, so you can learn on your own schedule. They run for four weeks and include pre-recorded videos, exercises, readings, and a discussion forum where you can ask the instructor questions. Each generally requires about 6-10 hours/week of work.
How long are recordings/materials available?
Livestream: Recording links are made available within 24 hours of each session. They remain available for four weeks after the seminar ends. No extensions will be granted. However, you can download the slides, datasets, and other materials which are yours to keep.
On-demand: All course materials are available for an additional two weeks after the seminar ends. After the two weeks, video access will end and can’t be extended. No exceptions. However, you can download a PDF of the slides and datasets which can be reviewed at any time.
I’ve registered; when will I receive more information about the seminar?
Livestream: About one week before the seminar begins, you will receive an email with any necessary seminar materials and instructions on joining via Zoom. Accessing Seminars
Where can I find the seminar schedule?
Livestream: The schedule for each seminar is listed on their individual pages. Always confirm the times and dates there— occasionally, there may be a slight change. All times are U.S. Eastern (ET), and all sessions are recorded (live attendance is optional).
On-demand: Seminar content is available 24/7 during the scheduled dates. The seminars are self-paced. However, you will receive an email each week with suggested activities to complete to stay on track.
I’ve never used Zoom before. What do I need to know?
We deliver our livestream seminars via Zoom, a free and user-friendly meeting software. You will receive a meeting link from Statistical Horizons a couple of days before the seminar. At the scheduled time, click the link to join; you may enter a waiting room briefly before being admitted. Instructions for joining a Zoom session are available here. If Zoom isn’t installed, you’ll be prompted to download it. We suggest downloading Zoom prior to the beginning of the seminar.
Certificates & Credits
Is a Certificate of Completion available?
Livestream: Yes, you may request a Certificate of Completion by emailing us at info@statisticalhorizons.com.
On-demand: You will be able to download a Certificate of Completion directly from the course platform once you’ve completed all elements. If you need any additional information added to the certificate, send us an email at info@statisticalhorizons.com.
Do you offer continuing education credit?
No, we do not.
Can European students earn ECTS credits?
Yes. In accordance with the ECTS Users’ Guide (2015) published by the European Commission, Statistical Horizons provides an estimate of ECTS credit equivalents for each seminar. These estimates take into account not only the in-class hours but also the time participants are expected to spend on exercises and assigned readings. Based on this framework, most of our seminars are equivalent to 1 ECTS credit.
If you would like to get ECTS credit for a seminar you have attended, please contact us at info@statisticalhorizons.com.
