Bianca Manago

Bianca Manago, Ph.D., is Assistant Professor of Sociology at Vanderbilt University.

Manago completed her Ph.D. at Indiana University, where her dissertation won the American Sociological Association’s Section on Mental Health Dissertation Award.

Her substantive research focuses on the ways that inequality is manifest, dismantled, and measured. She examines inequality on both the micro- and macro-levels. To study these processes, she employs a variety of methodological approaches including experiments (both laboratory and survey-based), in-depth qualitative interviews, and nationally representative survey data. Her work has been funded by the National Science Foundation and published in the American Sociological Review and Social Forces, along with other leading journals in sociology.

Manago has taught courses in data analysis at the graduate and undergraduate levels. These include: introduction to statistics, categorical data analysis, and workflow of data analysis. She prides herself on making lecture material accessible to everyone and has received outstanding reviews for her teaching.
