Stephen P. Borgatti, Ph.D., is the Paul Chellgren Endowed Chair of Management at the University of Kentucky. His research focuses on social networks in organizations.
Professor Borgatti has a background in cognitive anthropology and structural sociology, but makes his academic home in management. He is a past Senior Editor for Organization Science, and is a member of the LINKS Center for Social Network Analysis, located in the Gatton College of Business and Economics at the University of Kentucky. His current research focuses on the perception and ontological status of network ties. His past work has been concerned with what flows through social networks, particularly knowledge, and with mathematical models of position and role in networks. According to Google Scholar, his work has been cited more than 37,000 times.
Borgatti is one of the authors of UCINET, a widely-used software package for social network analysis, and is past President of INSNA, the professional association for social network researchers. He is also one of the authors of Analyzing Social Networks, a practical book on network analysis published by Sage (2013).
